What an emotional end to our last week at Preschool. As our leavers prepare to go on their next adventure to school, they have been thinking about their favourite thing to do at Preschool and drawing pictures about it.
At the graduation all our leavers looked so smart in their caps and gowns and sang all of their leaving songs beautifully .
A very big thank you for coming to the ceremony and for your continued support over the last year.
We wish our leavers lots of luck for school in September and to all our children who will be coming back to us we'll see you again soon.
We hope you all have a wonderful summer and have lots of fun.

We have been very busy exploring different textures. In our tuff spot we have had lots of different materials and objects that the children could touch and feel and then describe to others. This prompted lots of wonderful language and fantastic describing words such as, 'fizzy', 'fuzzy', 'spiky' and 'bumpy'.
The children also helped to make some playdough, which we added some glitter to, and used different materials with it and in it, such as pasta and lolly sticks and described what it was like.
We also had a lovely time when it rained. We put on our wellies and raincoats and jumped in puddles.
W/C 12th June 2017
At Preschool we have been observing what happens to us after exercising. The children put their hands on their chests before P.E and they said that they couldn't feel anything but after running, dancing and playing the 'bean' game, the children said they could feel their hearts 'beeping' and going 'boom boom boom'.
We have also been trying to build houses for the 3 little pigs. We used lollipop sticks, bricks and straws.
We have also welcomed some new children to Preschool. They have settled in very well, adjusted to all the routines and are becoming very independent.
Week beginning 22nd May 2017
This week at Preschool we have been using lots of equipment in the water tray, pots, squeezy tubes and whisks. We have tried to see how far we could make the water travel and how many bubbles we could make in the water.
We have also been using a large inflatable dice in the garden, which the children enjoyed rolling, guessing how many spots it landed on and then counting to check if they were correct.
W/C 15 May 2017
It was Sports Day this week and the children had been practising really hard during our PE sessions and our times on the field but unfortunately the weather let us down. Such a shame but we decided to hold it in the hall instead. The children did so well and it was lovely to see so many of you there.
At Preschool we have some very special visitors that the children are watching with interest....caterpillars! The children have seen them grow and we can't believe the change in size already. The children have given them all names and so our caterpillars are called Teddy,Bruce, Heart, Skyla and Doris. We wonder what will happen next!

We have been on a nature walk around the school field looking for signs of nature and we all collected something to bring back to the classroom to look at.
In Preschool we are talking about different occupations and the jobs the children might like to have when they are older. We have also been sharing the 'jobs forms' that the children took home that were filled in about a job that someone special to them has. The children have really enjoyed sharing the forms with us, so thank you to you all for returning them.

This week we have been explorers! Out in our garden we have been looking for nature and signs of spring. The children found slugs, woodlouse, snails and spiders in our dinosaur tyre. The children then used magnifying glasses to take a closer look and used lots of speech and narrative to describe what they had seen.
Inside the classroom the children have been detectives looking for our new preschool logo and making marks to record how many they had found. The children enjoyed searching the room for the logos.

We have some flowers and flowering plants in preschool that we have been investigating, looking at their colours, petals and leaves and talking about what might happen to them and what they might need to grow. Then we have been creating and drawing our own flowers using pens, pencils, chalks and crayons.
W/C 27th February 2017
We have had an 'egg'-citing' time at Preschool this week. We visited Mrs Stevens classroom as she had some eggs delivered, so we all wondered what might be inside. Some of the children wondered if there would be snakes, chicks or even unicorns inside. We went and visited again the next day and one of the eggs had hatched and inside was a 'duckling'.
We are still being detectives looking for shapes and finding lots around our environment. Outside we found our circular chalkboard and inside we found lots of shapes on some dice. We used lots of shape language, such as, circle, square, triangle and hexagon.

We have continued to talk about different sizes in Preschool this week and on Tuesday we looked at the different sizes of ourselves, finding the biggest and smallest children and adults. We also sorted the items on the Goldilocks and the 3 bears tray into sizes and, we matched and sorted the compare bears on the cards.
In P.E we got into teams for some races in the hall. Some of our races included waddling like a penguin, running and slithering like snake.

The children at Preschool have been busy using their counting skills and have found lots of objects to count. They have found little vehicles and put the correct amount of vehicles onto a numeral card. Also the children have been pegging numerals onto the washing line, then checking to see if they are in the correct order.
In P.E we used the parachute which we wiggled slowly and gently, then got faster and faster to make the parachute go higher and higher. The children were able to go under the parachute to change places with another child.
W/C 16th January 2017
At Preschool this week we have been very busy exploring colour and seeing what happens when colours get mixed. We put blue, yellow and red paint in the tuff spot tray and used cars to 'zoom' through the paint. The cars made tracks with their wheels and we liked looking at the patterns they made.
Also we helped to make some 'angel delight'. We watched what happened when we had some milk, added the powder and mixed it all up. The children were very surprised how quickly it all changed and after only a few minutes they were able to have some for snack.
W/C 9th January 2017
We hope you all had a lovely break. We would like to offer a warm welcome to all the children that have started Preschool this term and a big welcome back to all of our other children.
The children have been telling us all about what they got up to in the holiday, if Santa came and how he got in and if there was any presents. Some of the children drew pictures to show us their presents using media such as pencils and paper or the computer.
The children have been playing in our home corner looking after the babies, cooking meals and talking to each other.
A big, big thank you to everyone who came and joined us for our craft morning. It was lovely to see so many Mum's and Dad's coming to make crafts with their children. There were so many crafts being made with glitter and pom poms everywhere!
Kitty Witty Elf has been sitting in our Christmas tree, having snowball fights with the Barbie's and finding dressing up clothes.
The children have been extremely busy matching numbers on snowmen's hats to the amount of buttons on their tummies and also putting the correct number of snowballs in a numbered snowman cup.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The children chose some names that we could call our elf and they all voted for their favourite name. Our elf is called 'Kitty Witty' and this week there has been lots of elf magic in preschool.
One morning we came in and Kitty Witty had drawn 'Minions' on the bananas and had made a bed from the tissues and tissue box. We also came in and Kitty Witty had made a hole in the coco pops box and had spilled them all over the table and floor.
We have a snowman factory in preschool and the children are enjoying designing and making their own snowman, using playdough, twigs and buttons.
This is going to be an exciting time at Pre-school as we have a very special visitor coming to stay with us. Santa has sent one of his elves to watch us and has asked the children to name him. We hope he doesn't get up to too much mischief!
When we went to the hall for PE we had a wonderful time using the parachute. We give it little wiggles and big waves of movement to try and move a ball, teddy and a hat which we put on it.
Then we lifted the parachute very high and all went and sat underneath it or changed sides.
We have started to make special something which all the children enjoyed making which there will be more news about soon.
This week we have been looking into using our tools safely and correctly, and we all have been trying very hard, especially with scissors. We thought we would like to cut out pictures to make a Christmas list!
We have a builders workshop in our role play area and have been dressing up as builders while designing our own buildings.
Some of the children have been sorting and matching and have used insects and bugs to do this.
This week we have been investigating the playdough, using rolling pins, cutters and finding different objects to make marks and prints in it. The lego bricks and lego motorbike made very interesting marks!
We have continued to be really busy exploring the room and finding special places to practice our mark making skills. The whiteboards on the shed outside were very popular as well as the painting easel.
The children have been very excited telling us all about the fireworks they had seen and heard over the weekend. They used lots of interesting words to describe the noises they made, like, 'pop', 'bang' and 'whoosh'.
This week we have been very busy using mark making tools and have been practising hold writing tools in a three finger tripod grasp. The children have enjoyed using the writing tools in the blue sand trays and in the writing area making lists, appointments and writing letters to each other.
Welcome back after the half term break and we hope you had a lovely week.
At Pre-school this week we have been having some 'spooky' fun. We all helped to scoop out a pumpkin on Monday, some of us used a spoon and some used their hands, enjoying the feel of the seeds.
Also this week we made some 'Witches jelly'. We noticed what the jelly looked like before we started and helped to pull it apart. After it started to melt we looked at again, 'its getting smaller', one of the children said.
After the jelly had set, with a 'spooky' added something inside, the children played with the jelly, exploring the texture and temperature of it.
This week we have been very busy experimenting with colours, blocks and making marks.
We used the light box and put some different coloured transparent blocks on to it, we then looked to see if the colours changed when we mixed them up. It made some very pretty and unusual colours.
We also have used something very unusual to make pictures with.....teabags! The teabags made some very good splatter marks.
We have been showing our team work skills and working together to make a large floor puzzle.
Oh what a busy week we've had. We have been taking care of all the animals in Percy's shed, keeping them warm and feeding them.
Also we have been using Percy the Park Keeper puppets to retell Percy stories and make up some of our own.
In one of our P.E sessions we have been using balls of different sizes and had a go at throwing and catching, rolling a ball to a friend and kicking balls towards a goal.
We also played a game called 'socks and shakers' and we had to use our ears to listen as the socks were shaken and try and guess what could be inside. We really thought about what could be making the sounds.
This week we have a new role play area, it's 'Percy the Park Keepers Shed'. It is full of animals to look after, plants to 'water' and his chair and bed to rest on. Photos to follow soon.
Also the children have been looking for numbers around the room and have even recognised them on a calculator!
In the garden we have been investigating musical instruments, streamers that are blowing in the wind and bikes and scooters on the school playground.
This week we have been enjoying our outdoor areas. We have chosen lots of different activities throughout the week and some of our favourites have been building models and creating imaginary stories with the duplo lego.
We have all had a turn on the climbing frame, climbing on it in different ways and sliding down the slide.
This week we have all been very busy counting, sorting and matching our little vehicles and insects. We were able to count out objects from a larger group and put them into a pot. We sorted objects by colour and type, we even sorted bears into sizes, little to big and put them into a long line.
Also in our garden we have been playing with our woodland set. We worked together to find homes for the animals you might find out and about in gardens and in the woods.
We are really getting settled into pre-school and have continued to find out about all the activites we can do inside and outside.
We all had fun using the dressing up clothes and becoming different characters, the princess dresses, 'Woody' and ladybirds costumes were some of the favourites.
In preschool we have been using different construction materials to build models that we have enjoyed showing to others.
We have also been using the computer to 'draw' pictures by controlling the mouse to control the 'pencil' and change the colour.
Welcome back to our Autumn term at Preschool. We have new starters that have settled into preschool fantastically well and some children that have come back after the summer holiday, all of whom have been exploring and investigating the room.
We have been having a great time discovering our garden area, using the market stall, climbing frame and book bench to name a few activities.
In other news the preschool staff and some of the staff at the school took part in a 'colour run' raising money for EACH (East Anglian Childrens Hospices). We did this in memory of Mikayla, one of our wonderful preschoolers.
