In our learning walk this week we have continued to discuss other characters that the flying doctors could help.  The foxes made a fantastic restaurant which made seaweed to help the mermaid cool down and some chicken with grass to help the lion feel better.  The Hedgehogs wanted to help some other characters that they saw in the flying doctor story - they made the deer a house with a fire to help keep him warm and even made a ramp for his poorly leg.  The robins all agreed to help the unicorn and deer this week, making a new house and 'posh' castle with a TV and a special room to look after the deer.  The squirrels talked about how they could make a cave for Zog so that he could have a fire and keep warm.  Look at our wonderful work in the photographs below:

This week were are finding out about ways to make 10.  We have to count very carefully to do this and have been set a tricky counting challenge - see the photos below.  We are writing our diaries in our literacy work, using our phonic and keyword knowledge to do so.  We are working very hard on making sure we leave a space between our words and also forming our letters correctly.  We are creating with clay this week - making our very own dragon eyes, using tools to make different marks in the clay.  We also have a visit this week - We have seen the museum that Mary Anning made in her book 'dragon bones' and are taking a trip to Chatteris museum to find out even more about the past.  Please use the home link document above to find out even more about our learning this week and if you have any questions, please email pineclass@manea.cambs.sch.uk

Our maths counting challenge:

Our Visit to the Museum

WOW what a wonderful morning we have had at Chatteris museum.  We were able to explore artefacts and discuss what we noticed, we also saw how butter would be made!  We then investigated the museum..... It did have fossils!  The largest one was from MANEA!  How amazing.  We had such an informative session and have thanked the staff for all their hard work.  See photographs below of our exciting time:

After finding out that we behaved so well at the museum, Zog sent us a creative challenge...... to make our own dragon eye!  He showed us what other dragon eyes looked like and gave us some clay.  We had to roll and press the clay and then used some special clay tools to create marks on the clay.  We then put our dragon eye in it!  See some of the wonderful creations below:

Our wonderful work for Zog!
