W/B 18.3.24

Literacy:

This week we have been thinking about character descriptions and the features of this text type. We have focused our work on Mr Grinling, the character in The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. We have identified nouns and then created expanded noun phrases to describe his appearance. Next week, we will use these phrases to start writing our own character descriptions.

Maths:

This week all classes have been working on mass, volume and capacity.  We have used balance scales to compare the mass of different objects and have used the outside area to order containers with different volumes.

Topic:

In Topic this week we have been focusing on Art. We began the week by exploring Frida Kahlo and her impact and legacy. We then moved on to our next project which will be creating a tile for printing. We explored primary colours and used our hands and finger tips to create patterns. We also explored using textured objects to create rubbings.
