Week Beginning: 15th March 2021

What we have been doing this week...

The children have worked hard this week and continued with their topics from last week. In maths, we have been discussing and learning the names and properties of 2d shapes. Please ask the children to talk to you about any of the following: equilateral triangle, isosceles triangle, right-angled triangle, scalene triangle, square, oblong, rhombus, parallelogram, kite, pentagon, hexagon and octagon. You could also ask them what a quadrilateral is. We have been learning about different types of angles and we have spent time studying the topic of symmetry.

In literacy, we are continuing with our topic of persuasion. On Monday, the children practised their speaking and listening skills by talking to their partner using only facts or opinions - harder than it sounds when you're trying to make it sound like a conversation too! They have also studied a selection of letters and identified what makes these texts unique. We have also analysed formal and informal language.

The pupils have continued with the topic work in the afternoons and have especially enjoyed P.E. Mrs Fogarty taught them a new activity where they had to work in groups and number themselves. They then had to throw the ball to each other, but move to another group when their number was called. It was so funny to watch them try to catch, throw, listen and move at the same time. They really seemed to enjoy it and there was lots of laughing and confusion. They still seem pleased to be back and it is lovely watching them all running around and playing at break and lunch.
