Literacy:

This week we have planned and written a character description of Mr Grinling, the lighthouse keeper from The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. We used a planning frame to organise our ideas, then independently wrote our descriptions. We challenged ourselves to include a rhetorical question and expanded noun phrases.

Maths:

In Beech class we have been reading temperature scales and solving problems with changing temperatures. In Elm and Cherry class we have been continuing our measurement unit and have had lots of fun, practical lessons based on volume and capacity.

Topic:

We have all really enjoyed our Art unit this week. We started the unit by exploring textures and creating rubbings. We also used hands and fingers to create prints. We have built on this by making our own relief printing tiles, with a Mexican inspired design. We used primary and secondary colours to create a repeating pattern with the tiles and then added shaped cut outs from textured paper.
