This Week in Fir Class...
It has been yet another jam-packed week for Fir Class. In our Literacy lessons the children have been working on poetry, including performing poems and comparing a traditional poem (The Highwayman) with its parody counterpart (The Highwayrat). In Maths we have been revising measure, including area and perimeter. For Guided Reading this week we explored the story of Alice in Wonderland, completing activities which involved using higher tier vocabulary and use of inference.
In the afternoons, the class have enjoyed their PE lessons, playing rounders and preparing for the Sports Day races. On Thursday afternoon we performed our part in the Summer Term production, which you will be able to watch in the not too distant future!
Today (Friday) the class were joined by visitors from Witchford Village College, who set them in groups of four a problem solving challenge. All of the groups managed to complete the challenge within the allotted hour and the staff from Witchford were very impressed with their attitude and performance.
Lastly, we have made Pride a focus this week. We have had Pride themed assemblies, stories and wellbeing activities throughout the week. This afternoon the children also researched the life and achievement of computer genius Allan Turing.
Have a fun and/or restful weekend!
