Literacy

This week we have begun work on the Place Value of Punctuation and Grammar. We have all been exploring what a noun is and have become experts in spotting common and proper nouns. We have made lists of nouns we can see in the classroom and outdoor areas.

In our Guided Reading sessions, we have explored the book Tiddler and have been acting out some of our favourite moments from the story.

Maths

This week, Year 1 have been counting back within 10. We have also been matching numbers to amounts of objects. In Year 2, we have been looking at part-whole models and writing numbers showing their tens and ones. We have also been practising writing numbers in words.

Topic

We have started our Science topic this week and have had lots of fun thinking about different animals. We have been looking at grouping animals into Mammals, Birds, Fish, Reptiles and Amphibians. We have also considered the similarities and difference between different animals.

Busy Learning

Our busy learning this week has all been centered around the Julia Donaldson book, Tiddler. The children have been making underwater scenes in the Block and Lego area and have written some lovely captions explaining what they have made. They have also created sea creatures using natural objects in the outside area.
