We have had a very busy first week back after the half term. We hope you enjoy reading all about our learning for this week!
Literacy:
Our new text type for the next few weeks will be instructions. We have thought about the purpose of instructions and why we might use them. We have also begun to identify the key features of instruction texts and have sorted these into Presentation Features and Language Features.
Maths:
In Cherry and Elm class we have been reviewing our Place Value knowledge and have been extending this to include numbers up to 50. We have been counting in multiples of 10 and partitioning 2 digit numbers into 10's and 1's.
In Beech class we have been looking at measuring length and height. We have been measuring in cm and m and have even measured the playground! We have also been ordering and comparing lengths and solving word problems based on measurement.
Topic:
This week we have had a lot of fun creating pieces to decorate our classroom doors ready for Book Week next week. We have made our own Wild Things, crayons who want to quit and even some aliens who love underpants! We can't wait to share our doors with you when we complete them next week. We have also spend time thinking about the Progress Pride flag and understanding how all people and families are unique and special.
Homework:
We are all so pleased to see how many children have completed their homework tasks over the last few weeks. A new homework task sheet will be sent home on Friday 1st March and this will be due in on the 20th March.
