This week we have been finding out about a new character.  He is called Elmer.  He lives in the jungle and is not like the other elephants - he is colourful!  Elmer is very kind and wants to help his friends.  We have started to discuss ways that we can help Elmer and look after our friends and the world around us.  Elmer was very impressed and has sent us some visitors.....

One day Elmer found some eggs in the jungle - he said that they were duck eggs and has asked us to look after them for him as they should not be in the jungle.  We are now watching them very closely to see if they hatch and what we notice when they do!

As well as having the task of looking after the ducklings we have also been challenging ourselves to think of ways to help Elmer.  We have decided to use the bricks in the classroom to create a jungle and have also begun to create our own celebration Elmers to go to 'Elmer Day'.

In our maths work we have been investigating subtraction and have worked very hard with various activities.  We have investigated a new sound in phonics and been carrying out writing and reading activities throughout the week.
