Literacy Level 1

 

Using the picture above, write a sentence to describe the snowmen.

 

Literacy Level 2

Using the picture below, predict what might happen next. Where might the snowmen go? What might they do?

 

Literacy Level 3

Using the picture below, write a story to explain why the snowmen are together in a group. Are they going somewhere? Do they live in their own village? Has someone made all of them and they have come to life?

Maths Level 1:

Complete a shape hunt around your house. Can you find 3 2D and 3 3D shapes and write them in your book?

Maths Level 2:

Write the scrambled words into your homework book then unscramble the word and draw the correct shape next to it.

Maths Level 3:

Some 3D shapes have been used to create shadows. Can you write the shape of the 2D shadow and the 3D shape that could have made it?

Have a go at using 3D items around your house to create shadows. Write down the objects you have used and the shape of the shadows that it makes.

Maths - 

Spend 15 minutes on Numbots or Times Table Rock Stars. This does not have to be in one go. You could have 3, 5-minute sessions.

 

Literacy Challenge 1:

Using the picture below, write a bullet point list of 5 things that you can see.

Using the picture below, write down who you think this workshop belongs to and why. Can you also include what you think some of the presents could be?

 

Literacy Challenge 3:

Using the picture below, write about why this room is empty. Where could everyone be? Try to write 5 sentences to explain your thoughts.

Copy the shape pattern into your book and add the next shape.

Maths Challenge 2:

Copy the shape patterns into your book and add the next three shapes.

Maths Challenge 3:

Create your own repeating pattern with shapes. You can change the shape, colour and size.

Literacy Challenge 1:

Draw and label a basket of goodies for Little Red Riding Hood to take to Grandma.

 

Literacy Challenge 2:

Imagine that you are walking through the woods to Grandma’s house. Write some sentences about what you might see and hear.

 

Literacy Challenge 3:

Write a thank you letter to the Woodcutter for helping to save Grandma.

Use the images on the sheet and complete the subtraction questions. Write the number sentences into your homework book.

Maths Challenge 3:

Find the missing numbers for each subtraction question. For some, you need to find out what has been taken away (the subtrahend), rather than what is left at the end (the difference). Write the number sentences into your homework book.

Literacy Challenge 1:

Retell the story in order to someone at home?

 

Literacy Challenge 2:

Write speech bubbles to show what Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf say to each other in Grandma’s cottage.

 

Literacy Challenge 3:

Use the word mat to re-write the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Remember to write about the beginning, middle and end of the story.

Literacy - all 

 

Use your facts from last week to create your own non-chronological report about your favourite animal.

You will need to think of a title, subheadings and orgainise your writing into paragraphs or bullet points.

At then end, draw and label your picture.

Challenge 1: 

Take a walk around your house – what numbers can you spot and where are they? You might find lots of numbers on a clock or phone. Draw or write about the numbers that you spot.

 

Challenge 2:

Guess my number.

  • My number is odd.
  • My number is less than 5.
  • Double my number is 6.

 

Can you write your own guess my number challenge for someone at home to try?

Challenge 3:

 

Work with someone at home to play ‘Maths, paper, scissors’.

  • Similar to ‘rock, paper, scissors’. Both players hold one hand out in front of them and call out ‘maths, paper, scissors’. On ‘scissors’ hold out any number of fingers.
  • Players race to add together the number of fingers they are holding out to the number of fingers the other player is holding out.
  • The winner is the first player to call out the total.
  • To make it harder, both players show a number using 2 hands.

Write an addition number sentence in your homework book to show us the numbers that you have had to add together.

Literacy

Challenge 1:

Draw and label your favourite animal in the habitat it lives in. Aim to add 5 labels to your picture. 

 

Challenge 2:

Create a bullet point list of facts about your favourite animal. Aim for at least 5 facts and start each one with a capital letter.

 

Challenge 3:

Use subheadings to create bullet point lists about your favourite animal. Your subheadings could include: Where does it live? What does it look like? What does it eat? For each subheading, try to write 3 bullet point facts.

 

Maths:

Complete an activity on Numbots or TTRockstars. You can record your score in your Homework book to share with your teacher.

Label the Autumn picture:

Level 2: Draw an Autumn picture and write 3 sentences about what you can see.

Level 3: Write an Autumn acrostic poem. Each line should start with the letters that spell out Autumn. 

Maths:

Level 1 - Complete the number bond to 10 activities. Draw a picture in your book to help you.

Level 2 - Complete the Number bonds to 20. You might want to draw a picture in your books to help you.

Level 3: Solve the additions and crack the code!

Literacy Challenge 1:

Look at the image below and make a list of the nouns you can see.

Literacy Challenge 2:

Write 3 sentences describing what you can see in the picture below. 

What do you think the rodents are doing? Where might they be?

Write a short story about the picture below. Who are the characters? What are they doing? Why are they in this setting?

Draw a picture of your favourite animal and label it as a bird, reptile, mammal, fish or amphibian. Write a sentence explaining how you know which animal group it belongs to.

e.g.

I know my animal is a bird because it has feathers.

I know my animal is a fish because it has fins, gills and lives in the water.

Choose your favourite animal, draw a picture and write 5 facts about it.

You could think about:

Is it a fish, bird, mammal, amphibian or retile? How do you know?
