Literacy:

This week we have continued our Poetry topic and have been looking at Riddles. We identified the features of a riddle and had lots of fun trying to solve riddles with a partner. We then chose objects and came up with descriptions to help us write our own riddles.

See if you can solve our riddle below!

I   live   in   the   ground   and   have   a   jacket on.

I   sometimes   get   mashed.

I   am   a   vegetable.

What   am   I?

Maths:

Beech class have continued with their fractions work and have been finding quarters and thirds. They have been practising their sharing skills and recognising the importance of equal and unequal. Children in Elm class have been looking at repeated addition and making equal groups. They have also been exploring arrays.

Year 2 children also spent Monday working together to problem solve with cubes and drawing towers, while Year 1 children visited the library.

Topic:

We have had a lot of fun with our Art sessions this week. We have been exploring sculpture and thinking about how artists make use of a range of materials and techniques. On Wednesday, we were lucky enough to have a visit from 20Twenty Productions who delivered a Paper Sculpture lesson.

Year 1 children also enjoyed their visit to the Chatteris Library on Monday morning.
