We appreciate the feedback that 86.0% of parents/carers feel that behaviour is managed well within the school. We are also aware that there are some who feel behaviour is not managed well. We would appreciate any communication from parents and carers regarding how we could improve our policy and procedures in this area and hope that parents/carers use the email to their children’s class teachers when issues arise.

There are a few families who are concerned about the way the school has dealt with any bullying incidents they have reported. It would be good to hear from parents and carers. There are governors who are parents who have responsibility for agreeing our policies and procedures around anti-bullying, which is reviewed annually, who I am sure will welcome any feedback from parents/carers. They are: Ellie Addison, Katy O’Reilly, Theresa Usher, and Richard Nicholson .

We are really pleased that parents/carers use the weekly updates on their child’s class pages, which teachers update weekly, to keep in touch with what their child is learning about. The long-term plans, which map out what the children will be learning each term, are also on the school website for parents/carers to see what their children will be and are learning about.

Results are based on just the parents and cares who identified their child/children as having a special educational need and/or disability. Mrs Bevan, our school SENDCo, would welcome any parents/carers in to meet about where we need to support their child with identified Special Educational Needs and/or Disability.

We hope that those parents and carers who feel the school does not have high enough expectations for their child/children have found the recent parent consultations useful in sharing these concerns and working out a way forward with the class teachers. I know that our curriculum is always being reviewed and we are working on ensuring that there is challenge included in all aspects of the curriculum.

Parent/carer consultations and annual reports are of course the formal times of the year when you find out about how your child is getting on. A few years ago, we appreciated that this, for some, wasn’t enough feedback and parents/carers wanted more information. At this point we set up every class to have their own class email for parents/carers to use to contact their child’s class teacher. This is the best way we could think of to ensure there was a tool for you to ask about anything regarding your child/children. If there are other ideas of ways in which you feel this could be improved then please share them with us.

We are looking into extending the number of clubs on offer at the school following this feedback. I also hope the recent letter from Miss Gascoigne has informed you of what is available for your children. We will also be looking to reinstate some sports clubs into the school again as these were significantly impacted by the Covid pandemic.

As a school, we endeavour to support your children in all ways. We enable those who show great skill in sport/dance/music to attend competitions both locally and nationally. There are times we support those who are skilled at a high level to attend training sessions, when required. We also develop children’s love of the outdoors with forest school sessions in early years and outdoor learning for the whole school. We enjoy having themed days to celebrate events throughout the year and sharing with parents and carers through our market places the work that children are doing during these times. We feel we support children and families when they need us, through our pupil and family support officer, Mrs Burton, who supports with signposting families to places they can get help including finances, housing advice, early intervention support in the home, mental health, access to education for adults and many more. She also works with children around emotions, anxiety, friendships, young carers and dealing with life issues as they arise. We are always open to suggestions on how we could improve our school and would really appreciate any ideas you may have.

We hope that with the feedback we have been given and with continued communication with parents and carers about our school that we can build the confidence in our school of those who feel they would not recommend the school to other parents and carers.
