To visualise and create 3D shapes.

Look at a closed cardboard box, a container, such as a cereal box. Sketch what you think it would look like opened up into a single piece of cardboard. It doesn't need to be to scale. The single piece of cardboard is called a net, which can be folded into the 3D shape. Then open up the box to see how accurate your sketch was. A cereal shaped box is called a cuboid.

A cuboid can be made up of cube and rectangular shapes. A cube has only square faces.

Now, look at the numbers on a dice. Do you spot a pattern?

Task

Prepare 4 cube nets, then use visualisation to place the dots on the dice correctly. Then make up the dice to see if you positioned the dots correctly. Record your

findings of each one.
