Monday challenges - Daily video will introduce diary writing, our new text and a creative challenge

  • Write a diary about what you have been doing at home – use the keyword I to start the sentence and then use your sounds.  My recount is…. I watched a film.  I could hear lots of sounds – w, t, d in watched and f I l m in film. Don’t forget that you need to form your letters correctly and use the handwriting page on the website to help you.   A reminder of the session from Mrs Stevens – please see https://youtu.be/BnzJdONxZiU If you feel your child is becoming very confident with this writing then add a sentence with some detail – for example.  I watched a film.  The film was funny. Or  I went to the park.  It was fun.
  • Listen to the Tiddler story and discuss
  • Create your very own Tiddler – what will you use?  Discuss with your adult what you have found out so far about him from reading the story

Tuesday challenges – Daily video will introduce a maths focus challenge and a d/t challenge

  • It is our friend from Oak academy which works on the development of the understanding of numbers to 10 with a focus of putting these numbers in order https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/placing-numbers-within-ten-in-order-chgk8d
  • Daily challenge – create your own fish friends for Tiddler – what will you use?  Can you also create some other creatures from under the sea?   Can you create a sea scene with your fish in it?  You could use a box, or a tub to put them in.

Wednesday challenges – Daily video will introduce a phonic focus challenge and an investigation challenge

  • Mrs Stevens will talk about our new sound on https://youtu.be/uXll7yq-_z0   We have some new sounds to learn this week – the letter w – please watch the following video which introduces the children to the sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HfNo7Mtd7U
  • Once you have watched the videos a few times and practised the new sound with your child, please see how many words they can create with the new sounds.  Don’t forget you can use the sounds we have learnt already – I have thought of wet – can you think of more?  Can you find anything in your house that begins with our new sound?  Ask your grown up to make some letter cards of our new sound that you can then use in your phonics.
  • Daily challenge – I wonder what fish eat?  Can you find out?   What would you create for a meal for Tiddler?  I think he would like jelly!
  • If you are able to make some Jelly at home you can talk to your grown up about what happens to it as you make it – is it the same as when you started?  Does it change when you make it?  If you cannot make jelly at home then watch the following and discuss the changes with your grown up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIvPJURBDyA
