Literacy - Part 1
Yesterday, you looked at alliteration in preparation for writing your own headline for your newspaper report. Today, you will be writing a suitable headline. Try thinking of two or three different headlines and choose your favourite one. If you need to watch the Spiderman clip again, click on the link below and fast forward to 6:50 (6 minutes 50 seconds).
(This lesson has been produced by Oak Academy and is deemed suitable for classroom use in upper primary school. It contains a clip from a PG film which contains moderate violence.)
Now, this is an important part: Keep your headline ready for next week's lesson.
Literacy - Part 2
For the rest of your literacy lesson today click on the lesson below: you will be taught some Mrs Wordsmith words which would be really good to use when you write your newspaper reports next week. The lesson will ask you to use the Mrs Wordsmith words in some sentences. We look forward to receiving your sentences via firclass@manea.cambs.sch.uk.
Remember, keep all of your work so you can come back to it later.
Guided Reading
Yesterday, you wrote a book review on one of the books below.
Today we are going to continue with our review of these books and look at the similarities and differences between them. I would like you to draw a Venn diagram - this is two circles overlapping in the middle - label one 'Born to Run' and the other 'Escape from Shangri-La'. Then in each circle under the book label, write all the main parts of the book, but the parts which feature in both books you need to write in the middle section. For example, both books has a main character in it who is elderly.
Venn Diagram
Challenge: If you have read another Michael Murpurgo book you can add a third circle to your Venn Diagram.

Mental Calculations
Today I would like you to go through the attached powerpoint and complete the mental maths questions. You have 45 seconds to complete each calculation and you can jot working out down onto paper. The answers are on the final slide.
Numeracy
Today I would like you to look on the BBC bitesize page (link attached). Watch the videos explaining how to work out the area of rectilinear shapes. Then have a go at one of the attached worksheets. There are three levels of challenge, so choose appropriately. You can also try the quiz on the BBC Bitesize page too.
PE
Today I would like you to practise the chest pass. You will need a ball, it doesn't have to be a netball, but a similar size and weight would be ideal. The video attached breaks down the technique for the chest pass.
Music
For our Music lesson this week we are going to be in keeping with our topic on the Anglo Saxons. Please make your way through the videos and activities which are titled with 'Music'. You can have a go at some of the Drama activities if you have time.
