Hello Beech Class,
Well done for all of your hard work this week- remember to email photos, videos and work!
Foundation
Thank you so much for your advice about how I can take care of my pants, I’ve been following your advice and my plants are starting to look much better!
This week I’d like you to find out about how plants grow.
What stages do they go through to go from a seed or a bulb to a healthy, adult plant?
Have a look at this story.
You could have a go at some planting of your own to see for yourself how seeds or bulbs grow into adult plants. Cress seeds and broad beans both grow quite quickly!
You could draw some pictures to show how a seed or bulb grows and the stages that it goes through.
I have added some cards with pictures of the life cycle of a plant, you might want to have a look at them.
Literacy
I have added some reading comprehension tasks for you all about plants. You do not need to print these off- you can read them on the screen and either write your answers down on paper or you can talk through your answers with someone in your family.
This week I would like you to create an information book about plants that we can share with the children in Year 1 and Reception. You are all full of so much knowledge that it would be great for you to be able to share this with others!
When we write information we need to make sure that we choose the most important facts and information to share. We need to make sure that we make our writing clear for the person reading it. It is also helpful to draw some diagrams to help the person reading to understand.
Maths
This week you are going to be using your addition and subtraction skills to solve word problems.
Think back to the very start of home learning, when we had a little recap of addition and subtraction.
Here are the videos to remind you how to tackle addition and subtraction problems.
This week you will need to think about which operation you are going to need to solve the problem. Think carefully about whether addition or subtraction makes sense!
I have added some sheets with word problems. You don’t need to print these off- you can read them on the screen and make your notes on paper. The second sheet is full of multi-step word problems- these are a bit trickier- but I know how much everyone in Beech Class loves to challenge themselves!
