This week in maths it is all about doubles. What makes a double - how do you know it is a double? Please see a link with different activities to support learning at home https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/find-my-pattern-week-1/
In our phonics we are working on new sounds

See what words you can find with these sounds in them!
In our guided reading and literacy work we are focussing on our new sounds - our digraphs - two phonemes, one sound - we have a new game to play in our outdoor area to develop our ability to read these words. - use phonic bloom to support this work at home - can you help the frog get home?

In other work we are continuing with Elmer - this week it is Elmer and the whales - in the story Elmer, WIlbur and the monkeys create a raft - we will be creating our own rafts in our busy learning to help retell the story. We are also going on nature walks to see if we can find any minibeasts that we can inform Elmer about. We have an investigation station in our classroom with equipment to help us find minibeasts and also books to help us find out about minibeasts.
In our artwork we have been finding out about Andy Goldsworthy. We investigated lots of his artwork and have then collected objects on our nature work. We then decided that we would create a circle - similar to a lot of Andy Goldsworthy's art. We then added sticks, flowers, seeds and stones. We were very pleased with our work and are using the resources to create independent artwork.
What a fantastic set of learners in Pine Class
