Lockdown Day 35 (Wednesday)

Maths

LO: Solve problems involving scale factor

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/solve-problems-involving-scale-factor-in-shapes-c4u3ar

You know the drill- watch the video, complete the tasks during the input and then complete the tasks at the end.

Writing

LO:  Write a non-chronological report

You are now going to write your non-chronological reports. You have three days to write 6 paragraphs, so that’s two paragraphs a day.

Don’t forget to use your features checklist in order to make sure you are including all the features of a non-chronological report.

Also, there is your sentence openers and keywords sheet so that your sentences have interesting openers.

Targets for today:

  • Each paragraph must have at least 4 sentences.
  • Only one sentence may start with ‘The’ in each paragraph.
  • Include a de:de
  • Include a subject-3 examples- are all sentence type

Reading

Let’s apply the skills we looked at on Monday into reading texts over the course of the week.

Read ‘The Caravan’ and complete the questions.

PSHE

P.8 of the pack for reference

4.1

List times when you were in charge of your own safety.

4.2

What would you put in your emergency kit if you were heading out? How would it differ depending on what you were doing/where you were going?

4.3

Think about the times you listed in 4.1. Draw yourself in one of the situations and annotate it with your thoughts and feelings at the time. Circle the positive and negative emotions in different colours.

The Rest

- 15-20 minutes of reading a day

- Live Joe Wicks session on YouTube in the morning

- TT Rockstars

Spelling

Pick 10 words from the year 5/6 national curriculum word list. Practise them each day and then test yourself next week!

SPaG Activity

Complete page 11-12 of the activity booklet

Mrs Wordsmith –  deflated

Have a look through the attached PowerPoint. Much like in class, see if you can work out the missing words and then practise using the word in sentences. Maybe try using it in a sentence with a semi-colon or in a De:de sentence.

Furthermore, see if you can use it in this week’s writing tasks!
