Maths - Arrays

An array is a pictorial representation of a multiplication and division calculation.

For example:

For the calculation 3 x 5 = 15  or  15 divided by 5 =    this would be the array.

Draw out the arrays for the following calculations:

2 x 10 = 20                                20 divided by 2 = 10

5 x 4 = 20                                  20 divided by 5 = 4

6 x 5 = 30                                  30 divided by 6 = 5

2 x 7 = 14                                  14 divided by 2 = 7

2 x 9 = 18                                  18 divided by 2 = 9

5 x 8 = 40                                  40 divided by 5 = 8

2 x 6 = 12                                  12 divided by 2 = 6

2 x 8 = 16                                  16 divided by 2 = 8

10 x 3 = 30                                30 divided by 3 = 10

10 x 5 = 50                                50 divided by 5 = 10

Draw some of these out each day. If you run out try drawing the arrays using other calculations from your times tables instead. These can be done with chalk on the garden patio - but remember to ask your parents/carers first!

Literacy - Story writing

Watch the clip below.

This is a short story about characters that have been made into humans from objects (trees). Choose an item in your house that you could make into a character in your story and complete the following tasks:

  • Write a character description on the object - remember to use your shared writing checklist.
  • Plan a story with your character in.
  • Write your story.

Remember to send in your completed stories to ashclass@manea.cambs.sch.uk

Reading comprehension

Ask a member of your family if you can read one of your books to them. Ask them to ask you up to 5 questions on it. Can you answer them? Draw a picture of the book and label it.

Remember, to use the David Walliams audio link and Mrs Johnson's storytime to listen to. You can also draw a picture of these books too!
