This week is all about Night and Day! We have started investigations last week and looked at different activities that happen throughout these times. This week we are focussing on nocturnal animals - animals that come out at night. We are very excited to develop this understanding further in our night time day adventures and will have some wonderful things to share with our families at home.
In literacy we are looking at new letters and some digraphs (two letters that make one sound) we are also writing our diaries and solving lots of phonic challenges. In maths we are finding out about the number 5. We have learnt a new rhyme and completed lots of counting activities.
In our learning walk we have discussed lots of ways that we want to challenge ourselves in our continuous provision, using the resources available and beginning to bring in all the information that we have learnt in our work so far. Enjoy exploring with us in the photographs below:
Please use the document above to consolidate learning at home and if you have any questions, email Mrs Stevens on pineclass@manea.cambs.sch.uk.
As part of our final work on Diwali we decided to create a castle for Rama and Sita....We worked in our groups, listening to each other and sharing ideas. We we so proud of our hard work!
Our introduction to night and day continued with a story about a star.... We are very lucky that we have made our own stars already. We then found out about an artist who painted 'Starry Night' - Van Gogh. We investigated the picture on our craft table and created our own representations using loose parts. They are amazing!
Night time day...
What fun! We have worked very hard in our night-time investigations..... we have been on a nocturnal animal hunt and found lots of clues that nocturnal animals come into our outdoor area at night! We have made star cookies and also some lanterns to help us at night!
In the afternoon we then took part in a yoga session about Tommy the bedtime turtle. We then had a magical fire with cookies and hot chocolate! What an amazing day
We had a night time Yoga session all about how to stop any worries that we had, It was called Tommy the bedtime turtle and we learnt lots of new positions. We then discussed what our favorite ones were.
End of Night time day
We had a magical fire! It made different coloured flames, green and blue! We also enjoyed some delicious hot chocolate and ate our star cookies! We even sang Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star together around the fire! What a brilliant day
