English
This week in English, we have continued our work on the Place Value of Punctuation and Grammar. We have been thinking about different types of verbs, both action and being verbs, and how we can identify these and use them in our writing.
Maths
In maths this week, Year 1 have been comparing and ordering numbers to 10. They have been thinking about the vocabulary of 'more', 'less', 'greater' and 'fewer'. They have also been using a number line and putting numbers in the correct places.
Year 2 have also been comparing and ordering numbers, but all the way to 100! They have been using numerals and visual representations of numbers to do this. Towards the end of the week, Year 2 have been practising counting in multiples of 2, 3, 5 and 10.
Topic
We concluded our Science topic this week with two investigations. Our first investigation was to find the most suitable material to use to make an umbrella, we thought about the properties that the material would need to have, it had to be light enough to hold up, strong and waterproof! We also investigated the best material to use to make a pair of curtains that would not be see through.
