Autumn 2

Week 13- 2nd December 2024

This week, our Year 5 and 6 students have been buzzing with excitement as they delved into the world of electrical circuits.

Not only did they explore how circuits work, but they also had the opportunity to design and build their very own circuits! From switches to bulbs, the children worked collaboratively and creatively to bring their ideas to life.

As part of their learning, they also practiced using scientific symbols to accurately draw and represent their circuits. Their diagrams are clear, detailed and showcase a great understanding of this key scientific skill.

It’s been a fantastic week of hands-on learning, curiosity and teamwork. Well done, Year 5 and 6!

Week 12- 25th November 2024

This week Year 5 and 6 have successfully completed writing their non-chronological reports about the fascinating creatures they’ve imagined and explored.

But that’s not all! To complement their reports, the children have also created stunning pieces of artwork inspired by their creatures. Their dedication and artistic talent truly shine through in these vibrant and imaginative creations.

Week 11- 18th November 2024

This week in English, we have designed our own mythical creature living within Manea woods. We visited the woods, and created signs that the creature could have been there- including paw prints, scratches on trees- and making their nest or home. The children are now busy using this to write non-chronological reports.

Week 10- 11th November 2024

We had a great time celebrating Children in need this week- and enjoyed the non-uniform day! In the afternoon we looked at different styles of Art and used this knowledge to collaboratively make some Pudsey artwork.

Week 9- 4th November 2024

It has been a very busy week in Years 5 and 6. This week in Year 5 and 6, we’ve been diving into some exciting topics across our subjects!

In English, the children have been putting their imaginations to work by writing about their own unique creatures. They’ve crafted descriptions to bring these creatures to life and had lots of fun sharing their ideas.

In art, we kicked off our new unit by exploring the work of Lubaina Himid. We discussed what we like and dislike about her artwork, sparking some great conversations about colors, styles, and themes.

In maths, Year 5 has started their new unit on fractions, while Year 6 is tackling the order of operations. Both year groups are building their skills and showing fantastic enthusiasm as they tackle these new topics!
