Year 1 had a wonderfully busy and festive final week of the Autumn term!

On Monday, the children visited the church for their rehearsal in preparation for their nativity performance the following day. They were absolutely amazing and were fascinated by exploring parts of the church they had never seen before, including the vestry and the back room where they would be getting changed before the performance. On Monday afternoon, the children began creating their Christmas cards and really started to get into the festive spirit. We cannot wait for you to see their wonderful creations!

Tuesday morning was showtime, and what a fantastic performance the children put on! They truly worked their socks off, and it definitely showed in the fabulous nativity they performed for you. Thank you to all the families who came to support us – it was lovely to see so many of you there celebrating the children’s hard work.

For the rest of the week, we continued our festive celebrations and created some lovely things for you to enjoy at the end of the week.

In English, we consolidated our learning on subjects and verbs. Identifying the subject of a sentence was tricky at first, but we learned that finding the verb helps us to identify the subject correctly. In Maths, we revisited and consolidated our learning from across the Autumn term, including place value, addition and subtraction, and shape.

Well done, Year 1, for a fantastic and busy term! We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas break and enjoy a well-earned rest. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2026 for an exciting Spring term ahead!

Year 2

What a busy week it has been in Beech Class!

This week we have completed our maths unit about shape. We have been counting the number of vertices on 3D shapes, sorting both 2D and 3D shapes based on their properties and have been creating patterns with shapes. 

In English, we have had a focus on spelling. We have been using suffixes to change our root words. We have used this for changing singular words to plural, and present to past tense. 

In computing this week, we thought about how to use technology safely and modelled this when using paint.

We took part in our Christmas Disco on Tuesday afternoon and had a great time dancing to our favourite Christmas songs!

We have also been creating Christmas cards and decorations to take home - we hope you like them!
