In our learning walk this week we focused on the elements of the story and what Zog would like..... we came up with some questions - where did Zog live? What would they need to help them be a flying doctor and what else do they think they would like. We came up with lots of ideas, making a cave for them to live in, an ambulance to help them do their job, a castle with a specific room to help anyone who is hurt or injured and lots of wonderful food and drinks! See the information below with more details:
This week in our learning we will be focusing on developing our ideas for Zog and using our environment to support these ideas. We will be beginning to investigate cold and hot climates, developing our understanding of cold areas. We will be meeting new character, Iris and Isaac and reading their story. We will then create some nests for them in our forest school session. We will also be developing our colour mixing skills by creating..... ORANGE!. In our writing we will be using our phonic and keyword knowledge in our diary writing and also in our phonic work. We will also be learning to count back from 5 with one of our favourite rhymes. Please use the home link document above to consolidate learning at home and if you require any further information, please email pineclass@manea.cambs.sch.uk
After reading Iris and Isaac we were set a challenge.... to create them a next in our forest school session using our foraging skills. We worked hard as a team, initially choosing to create a round nest but then choosing to create an oval one as there would be more room for them to sit!
In our drawing club we then created a machine to make new nests for Iris and Isaac. We had to think what the machine would have in it, how it would come out and how it would pat the nest into shape. We then had to think of a code - we chose our favourite digraphs and trigraphs and our favourite numbers! They were amazing!
In our continuous provision we have worked hard creating for Zog. We have created friends, made food, constructed and worked with our friends. Look at the wonderful work below:
