In our learning walk this week we have been working on finding ways to support the characters in Zog and the other stories we are learning about. We worked very hard in our groups to come up with ideas of what we can do and also how we can ensure that we listen to our friends. It is hard sometimes, especially if we think our idea is the best. Look at the information below and the photographs of our wonderful work.
This week we are working hard on our 'understanding of the world' area of learning. We are using the knowledge of the characters in our books to identify areas on a globe and also finding out about Chinese New Year. We are also using our sound and keyword knowledge to begin to be confident in writing captions and simple sentences as well as reading! In maths we are consolidating our numbers to 5 and beginning to look at number 6. This week we are finding out about a penguin and then using this in our creative task - to make our very own penguin friend! It is quite tricky as we have to follow the instructions very carefully. Map Challenge:
Zog has asked us to create a map so that they can find their way back to our classroom and also show their friends. We have worked with Mrs Goude to identify features of our outdoor area. We noticed the trees, the different areas and also discussed their positions. We then added these to a draft map that we shared with our friends....... it was very interesting to see the different features that we all thought were important!

Penguin Challenge:
This week we read the story Lost and Found in our drawing club work as Zog had been to the south pole on their travels. We discussed how Polar Bears and Penguins lived at different sides of the globe and were then given some instructions...... it was to make our very own penguin using reclaimed materials. We had to follow the instructions very carefully and also developed our understanding of how to join different materials together. Our Penguins were FANTASTIC!
