Autumn 1

Week Eight- 20th October 2025

The final week of our first term has been a successful one. We may all be feeling a little tired, but everyone has continued to work hard in a wide range of subjects!

In English, we have been learning about non-chronological reports and the features of them. We followed this up in our reading- where we sorted facts about Stone Age beasts!

Week Seven - 13th October 2025

What an exciting week! We had our 'Manea Magical Day' on Monday. We stepped into our classrooms to find that there was a little door sitting on our windowsills! We decided to design our own doors and then write about what was beyond them. Look at some of our wonderful writing below! In the afternoon, we decided to join the students at Hogwarts and play some quidditch! Finally, we thought it would be fun to draw our new school (Hogwarts). We all had a very magical day!

Week Six - 6th October 2025

This week, our Year 3/4 students had the exciting opportunity to step inside the Wonderdome, it truly brought the wonders of space to life.

Inside the dome, the children were taken on an immersive journey through the solar system, exploring planets, stars and galaxies in a way that felt truly out of this world. They were fascinated by the chance to see space up close and to deepen their understanding of the universe.

The experience sparked lots of curiosity and wonder, with many students leaving full of questions and ideas about what lies beyond our planet. It was a fantastic way to bring learning to life and inspire our young astronomers!

Week five- 29th September 2025

This week we have continued to show our P.A.R.T.Y skills whilst tackling a range of subjects from across the curriculum.

In English, we've continued our PVPG unit, we are now able to identify the subjects, verbs and other bits in sentences. We've also been using the phrase "it's a full independent clause with a subject and a verb, so I put a full stop at the end and go back and add a capital letter", to explain punctuating sentences!

In Maths, we have continued our place value units. Year four have been busy rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000- although it was a little tricky, they have really perservered. Year three are now beginning their addition unit and have been adding one digit numbers to a range of two and three digit numbers.

We were also lucky enough to have a story telling visit!

Week four - 22nd September 2025

Year 3 and 4 have had another busy week learning.

In English, we have been working hard at finding irregular and regular verbs. We worked hard in pairs to sort given root verbs into the correct headings.

In Year 4 Maths, we have been working hard learning all about Roman Numerals! We played matching games to help us sort the numbers alongside the Roman Numerals.

In Year 3 Maths, we have been continuing to work hard on place value. We've been counting in 50s and ended the week completing some orienteering outside.

In Guided Reading, we have started linking our texts to our Stone Age topic. We have started reading - 'How to wash a woolly mammoth.' We completed some role play and had a go at pretending to wash a woolly mammoth - there were lots of giggles during this activity.

We all enjoyed a football match at the end of our Football PE lesson!

Week three - 15th September 2025

Year 3 and 4 have had a busy week learning.

In maths, we have been exploring number lines, building our confidence in identifying, placing, and comparing numbers. The children have enjoyed using practical activities to deepen their understanding, and it’s been fantastic to see their problem-solving skills shine through.

Week two: W/c 8th September 2025

We have had an exceptionally busy week this week.

We were lucky enough to be part of the Rail200 project on Tuesday. We learnt all about the History of the railway, and then created our own train images on procreate, which will be displayed at Manea train station!

Week one: W/c 2nd September 2025

What an amazing first week the children have had in their new classes. We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them all, and they've adapted so well to our new routines.

We started the week by reading the story mixed by Arree Chung, and thought about our own personalities and qualities. We are creating a beautiful display for all of this work, and look forward to sharing it with you later on in the term.

In English, we have been working on our presentation and remembering what makes a good piece of work. We also created some lovely colour poems.

In Maths, both year three and year four have been working on the place value of numbers and have been able to build and partition either three or four digit numbers.

We've started our topic sessions too- on Friday in Science, we looked at different types of rocks- and was able to group and sort them based on their properties.
