Year 1
This week, Year 1 have been busy exploring the story A Squash and a Squeeze! The children have really enjoyed getting to know the different characters and learning all about the setting of the old lady’s house. We even labelled different features of the house using our fantastic phonic skills! We’ve also been practising our Harvest Assembly songs and poems, and the children are very excited to share their wonderful performance with you on Thursday morning.
In Maths, we’ve been working hard on addition and using our part-part-whole models. The children especially enjoy seeing their models drawn out on the tables — it makes learning even more fun!
We hope you all have a lovely half term and look forward to seeing you back in school on Monday 3rd November for another fun, action-packed term ahead!
Year 2
This week in maths, we continued our learning about addition. We have been using number lines and ten frames to add on to the nearest ten - to do this, we have had to partition one of our numbers.
On Thursday, we started looking at subtraction and the most efficient methods to use.
In English, we have continued our work on sentence structure and have been using pronouns in our work so that we do not have to repeat a subject multiple times.
On Thursday, we performed our Harvest assembly and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that came to watch!
