English:
This week we have started our new unit, recount letters. We have completed some diagnostic tasks independently, then have explored the key features of a letter. We know that a recount letter must have the senders address, the date, a greeting and a sign off. We also spotted rhetorical questions and first person words. To help us with what to include in our letters, we have created story maps of Rapunzel with all of the key moments from the tale.
Maths:
In Cherry class, we have continued to look at numbers up to 20. We have found 1 more, 1 less than given numbers and have been using a numberline to describe the position of numbers in relation to each other.
In Beech class, we have started our work on multiplication and division. We have been identifying equal and unequal groups and have created our own equal groups using different equipment. We have then tried writing repeated addition and multiplication number sentences.
Topic:
This week we finished our Geography unit by exploring the rainforest and thinking about the different products which come from their. We also discussed some threats to the rainforests and the animals who live in them.
We then started our Art topic which will be exploring mono-prints. We have started by completing close, careful drawings of small items. We have tried our best to think about the shape and shade of each item and have used different mark making techniques.
