Maths:
This week in maths, Year 1 have recapped addition and subtraction. We have been thinking about fact families and how we can change the order of our addends but still have the same sum, we have been working systematically to find all number bonds to a given number and have solved subtraction problems using a number line.
Year 2 have been learning about shape this week. We have been sorting shapes based on their properties; such as if they are 2D or 3D and have been counting the number of sides and vertices that different shapes have.
English:
This week in English we have been completing our 'Hot Write'. On Monday we planned our Non-Chronological Report, we have then spent 3 days writing the different sections; the introduction, what dragons look like, what dragons eat and where they live. On Friday we edited and published our work using our best handwriting.
Topic:
Our Topic this week has again been focussed on art. We have been completing observational drawings of natural objects such as shells, leaves, twigs and pine cones. All children worked incredibly hard to spot the tiny details in these objects which they then reproduced in their drawings.
