This week in writing, we have been applying our learning about fully punctuating independent clauses. The children were given a range of texts where they could independently practise these skills. They worked really hard and tried their very best – we are so proud of their efforts.
In maths, we focused on the numbers 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19, developing our understanding of how many tens and ones are in each number. The children enjoyed exploring these numbers and showing their growing confidence.
On Tuesday afternoon, we were very lucky to have a visit from Rock Steady. We had so much fun singing along to some of our favourite songs, including Baby Shark, APT and Old Town Road, while listening to live music played on electric guitars, bass guitar and drums. We even got to watch some of our adults perform We Will Rock You!
What a fun and busy week we have had in Year 1!
Year 2
This week in English we have been focussing on Wanted Posters again. We have been looking at the features and sequencing them, ready for next week when we write our own!
In Maths, we finished our money unit. We have compared amounts of money, worked out how much change to give and solved 2-step problems.
This week in Art we have been taking rubbings from objects with different textures. We found items with bumps, lines and dots.
In RE, we have been thinking about puja – this is Hindu worship. We have learnt about the items found on a puja tray including the Diya lamp and kum kum powder.
In Science, we began thinking about Animals, Including Humans again. We learnt that humans need three things to survive – water, air and food.
In PSHE this week we thought about our families. We know that we may do similar or different things to other people’s families and that all families are different.
In music, we continued learning the Football song. This week we added claps to different parts of the song and used call and response.
