Year 1:
What a fantastic start to the year! The children have been absolute superstars in their first few days of Year 1. They’ve settled brilliantly, shown great resilience as they’ve got back into the routine of school, and already impressed us with their enthusiasm and hard work. We’ve really enjoyed getting to know one another, and the children have produced some wonderful work in both diary writing and maths this week.
Well done, Year 1 – I’m so proud of you already and I’m really looking forward to all the exciting learning we’ll share in the year ahead!
Year 2
We have had a brilliant week in Beech Class!
This week we have settled in to our new class, enjoyed spending time with our friends and have already worked extremely hard.
In maths, we began by looking at numbers up to 20, we thought about what the numbers were, how to write the numbers as words and how to represent the numbers using resources. We have now moved on to numbers up to 100! We have been able to draw representation as well as use resources such as rekenreks and numicon to show these numbers.
This week in English, we have been focusing on how we can make our writing the best it can be. We have been thinking about our letter formation as well as how we can edit and improve our work. Some children have even been editing their work independently!
We have had several topic lessons this week. In Science, we began thinking about animal groups and if animals were mammals, reptiles, birds, fish or amphibians. In Geography we thought about our local area and what we can see in the village. In PSHE we have been thinking about our responsibilities and how we ensure we can complete them successfully. We have explored how we can run at different speeds in PE.
