We are working hard helping Percy this week and have had an exciting delivery! We are finding out about sewing to help make a new blanket for Percy and also learning how to draw a robin. We are continuing being investigators and exploring objects that may float or sink. In our writing we are continuing using sounds and keywords to create captions and sentences. In maths we are exploring numberlines and securing our counting skills. Our learning walk is to help Percy with tidying up his park after all his visitors - see some of the ideas that we have below that could improve it even more! Our discussions then focused on how Percy is an explorer, investigator, creator and an inventor so we decided to focus our work on being these!
THEN....... Percy sent us something to look after........ Some eggs! We talked about what we thought may hatch........ How exciting. We hope that during our science marketplace you will be able to find out!
Please use the home link document above to consolidate learning at home and if you require any further information, please email Mrs Stevens on pineclass@manea.cambs.sch.uk.

Floating and Sinking
We decided to investigate to help the ducklings learn to swim. Lots of discussions took place about the different objects that we had and we talked about some of our predictions:
'I think that if they are hard they sink and if they are soft, they float'
'the plastic disk will float if you put it on the water. It will sink if you drop it in!'
'the ball will sink as it is small and spiky!'
'the stones sink because they are heavy but the wood floats because it is light'
'things that are heavy sink, but things that are not heavy float!'
'objects that are small will sink, but big objects will float'
'if you put the disk in very carefully, it will float'
We then tested out the objects and found out that some heavy objects floated, some big objects floated, but so did the small objects! Also some light objects sank!
SOME OF OUR PREDICTIONS WERE RIGHT AND SOME WERE WRONG!
We then decided to investigate the objects even further to try and find out why!
Look at some of the challenges that we have been working on this week:
