Year 1
In Maths, we began learning about different coins, their values, names, and features. To put our learning into practice, we created our own shop where the children had to give Miss Hills the correct amount of money for the items they wanted to buy. We had lots of fun while developing our money skills!
In Writing, we started exploring questions and the punctuation needed at the end of every question. We became "cheeky biscuits" and wrote questions from the Gingerbread Man to the fox, asking whether he was the tastiest gingerbread man the fox had ever eaten!
In PSHE, we discussed the amazing things our bodies can do. We learnt that although we all have the same body parts, every person is unique, and our bodies can do different things from our friends' bodies.
In History, we learnt about Mary Seacole and how she helped soldiers during the Crimean War.
On Thursday afternoon, we were very lucky to meet Zog and the Flying Doctors! It was a wonderful experience that was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the children.
Year 2
We continued with our setting description unit in English this week and began by thinking about what could be seen and identified and listed nouns. We then modified the nouns by using both pre- and post-modifiers. We also recapped verbs and modified these too. To help when planning and writing our setting descriptions next week, we also had a go at writing cliff-hanger endings including an exclamation and a rhetorical question.
We concluded our statistics unit in maths this week. We looked at pictograms again this week and thought about how one image can represent more than one person or vote. We had to think about what it could mean when there was half of an image. We have also been applying our statistics knowledge to different problems and working collaboratively to share our understanding.
In science this week, we recapped what we had learnt about food chains and had a go at making our own using paper chains – have a look at the photos to see some examples!
In PSHE, we have been thinking about our new unit; growing and changing. We have recapped animals and their offspring, ordered the stages in the human life-cycle and thought about what you can do, or are learning to do at each st
