Year 1
Year 1 have worked incredibly hard this week as we began planning what we are going to say in our retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk. We have enjoyed learning the repetitive phrases from the story and have had lots of fun practising them. We are very excited to begin writing our stories onto published paper next week!
On Monday afternoon, we were very grateful to the Year 6 children for inviting us to their fayre. There were so many fun activities to take part in, as well as lots of wonderful things that they had created for us to buy. A special congratulations to Skye, who was very lucky and correctly guessed the name of the cuddly penguin toy!
On Wednesday, we spent the afternoon with the Playground Proms team, performing the songs that we had been learning alongside the musicians. They were incredibly talented and very funny too! Even though it was a hot afternoon, we all had a fantastic time.
There is just one more week to go, Year 1, and it is going to be a very busy one. I am especially looking forward to our school trip next week!
Year 2
This week we wrote our first drafts of our narrative. We thought about the key events and the features of narratives. We have then edited and published our work.
We have continued our recap in maths this week and have been solving addition and subtraction problems, recalling multiplication facts and solving multiplication and division problems.
In RE, we focussed on stories from Hinduism. We looked at the story of Rama and Sita. The story celebrates light and how light triumphs over dark and good triumphs over evil. This is linked to the festival of Diwali.
In PSHE this week, we thought about responsibilities; what our responsibilities are and how these have changed since we were younger. We also thought about how the needs of babies and young children are met by their care givers.
In computing this week, we recreated another piece of artwork. This time we focussed on Kandinsky.
For music we had the Playground Proms and a string quartet visited us and performed for us. It was brilliant!
We also enjoyed the mini-fete on Monday set up by Year 6!
