WB: 23.3.26

Year 1

This week in Computing, Year 1 have been incredibly creative! The children designed and created their own beautiful sunflowers, applying the skills they have learned throughout the topic, including using shapes and lines to produce their artwork. Please take a look at our photos to see their fantastic designs.

In Writing, the children have worked very hard independently to create their own instructional texts on how to trap a wolf. They have had lots of fun expanding their nouns and improving their ideas to make their writing even more exciting. We are very proud of how they have persevered and taken care with their work, and we can’t wait to share their final pieces with you.

In Maths, the children have been using all of their skills to answer a range of questions and have done extremely well. Well done, Year 1!

In PE, we have been developing our football skills. Even in the strong winds, the children showed great determination, scoring goals and having lots of fun—some of us may even be future professional footballers!

Well done, Year 1—you’ve had a fun and busy term and definitely deserve a rest. We hope you all have a lovely Easter holiday with your friends and family, and we look forward to seeing you all again in two weeks.

Year 2

This week in English we planned and wrote our character descriptions of Mr Grinling from The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch. We thought carefully about an introduction, his appearance and his personality.

In maths, we have had great fun with our unit on volume and capacity. We have been using measuring jugs and beakers to work out the volume in different containers. We have also been looking at temperature and reading scales on a thermometer.

In RE this week, we learnt about the 10 Gurus in Sikhism. We learnt how key messages were shared by the Gurus and how the Guru Granth Sahib is now used for teaching.

We had thought about the signs of Spring. We drew and wrote about what we thought about when we think of Spring Time. Have a look at the photos to see our work!

In PSHE we thought about situations involving risk and what we would do in different scenarios.

We finished our DT unit this week, completing our cars and evaluating our work.
